Executive Controller

Operations

Executive Controller oversees financial/operational integration, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and cost control by analyzing data, managing budgets, developing internal controls, monitoring KPIs, and driving process improvements, often focusing on specific business units to align operations with financial goals. They bridge finance and operations, acting as a key resource for strategic decisions, risk mitigation, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities


Process Management: Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.


Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, forecast financial needs, analyze cash flow, control costs, prepare financial reports, and review financial data for accuracy to help make sound business decisions that improve profitability.


Operational Efficiency: Develop and implement strategies to improve processes, reduce waste, enhance productivity, and manage project execution.


Internal Controls & Compliance: Design, implement, and monitor internal controls, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations (e.g., data security, audit standards). 




Reporting and Analysis: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, providing insightful analysis and recommendations to senior management for decision-making.


Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all operations are legally compliant and adhere to internal controls, including coordinating audits and implementing safety programs.


Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments like Accounting, HR, Legal, IT, Marketing, Business Development, Construction, Property Management, and Sales to align operations with broader business objectives and resolve issues.


Team Leadership: Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise staff, fostering a high-performance culture and addressing employee relations issues.


Incident and Change Management: Serve as an escalation point for major operational incidents and oversee the change control process to minimize service disruptions.


Required Qualifications and Skills

Education: A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field is often required, with a master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA or CMA) often preferred.


Experience: Proven experience in Finance, operations management, project management, and a related areas specific to construction & development, often requiring several years in a leadership role.


Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes of problems, and develop actionable solutions.


Leadership: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage teams and engage stakeholders effectively.


Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with ERP systems and enterprise monitoring or project management software is highly valued.


Core Duties

Oversee month-end close and financial statement preparation.

Lead audits (internal/external) and ensure regulatory compliance.

Develop and execute strategic business/operational plans.

Analyze financial statements to spot weaknesses and opportunities.



Technical Skills:

Proficiency in construction management software and MS Office Suite.

Ability to read, interpret, and explain complex contracts, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Knowledge of current construction methods, technologies, building codes, and safety practices.
